Delores
Claiborne
Delores married Joe St. George. Three children later, Joe
died falling into an old well during the eclipse in 1963.
Although it was proved that Joe was drunk, some people think
Delores may have murdered her husband. 30 years later, Vera, the
woman Delores works for as housekeeper/companion falls from the
top landing of the stairs. Since Vera was a stroke victim and
supposedly unable to walk, and other small evidences, Delores
becomes suspect again. When she enters the police department to
make a statement, she admits to one murder, but not a 2nd. The
story that follows is a riveting tale of abuse and courage. The
societal situations that lead to decisions most of us believe we
are incapable of is another topic of horror Stephen King has been
able to portray with his uncanny insight into human nature.
This novel has a referral to the novel
Gerald's Game.
The stories are paralleled in time and incidents of similar
nature. The underlying theme triggering the similarities is
incest and its' ultimate consequences in the lives of victims.
A small town named Desperation near an old mine.
Travelers who disappear close to the town. A policeman roaming
the roads ... an unusual policeman ... tak. What ... is going on?
Stephen King has created one of his alternate reality
stories using his Bachman pseudonym. To read a different plot
with the same characters, check out Stephen Kings'
The Regulators
which was released simultaneously to Desperation.
He first introduced this possibility in the
The
Gunslinger (the first of his Dark Tower
Series) and has referred alternate realities in some of his other
novels/stories.
Gerald's
Game
Sex games are played by many couples. Gerald has become fond
of bondage, but Jessie has lost interest. She really needs to let
him know how much but waits until she is handcuffed to the bed.
The events that follow have deadly consequences and Jessie must
fight for her life ... and her sanity. This story is an
incredible psychological thriller that can keep a reader riveted
as Jessie hunts for the solution to her dilemma.
This novel has a referral to the novel Delores
Clairborne. The stories are paralleled in
time and incidents of similar nature. The underlying theme
triggering the similarities is incest and its' ultimate
consequences in the lives of victims.

Bates) is abuse and jus as crazy as Bates. Norman is a "cop".

The
Shawshank Redemption
Shawshank is the prison where the narrator, a murderer, is
incarcerated. This is not only his story, but also of another
prisoner convicted of a murder he claims he did not commit. This
is an incredible tale of the abuse and mis-use men can perform on
each other, and the lengths the abused can go to in order to
maintain some kind of insanity.
The Shawshank Redemption : The Shooting Script (A Newmarket Screenplay) by Frank Darabont
The
Shining
A couple and their child become caretakers for an empty old
mountain resort. This seemingly idealic job in a beautifully kept
setting. Then something sinister begins to seep into their lives,
and they start to learn the history of the resort...
This is one of Kings' most outstanding tales of the
battle between good and evil. He uses a modern setting depicting
the destruction of the majority of the human race. The instrument
of destruction is a virus prepared for biological warfare. Due to
human oversight (?) the virus is released. For any human, horse,
or dog that is susceptible to the virus, it is contagious.
However, not everyone is susceptible. Survivors dream of two
leaders, an old black woman over one hundred years old and a
younger man, the walking dude, Randall Flagg. As the survivors
gather together in two separate locations, the battle between
good and evil escalates to a necessary confrontation to determine
the fate of the world. Who will win? What will this new world be
like?
Stephen King's story provides an incredible amount of
insight into human nature and the diversity of thought processes.
From the faithful who act without doubt to the doubting who are
converted to good or evil, or sometimes act without a conscious
choice of philosophy, King has been able to portray a world with
a question mark at the end of the story. Will Human Kind
recognize and repeat its' previous mistake or ... not?
The Talisman (co-author Peter Straub)

gets thinner. And then there is the judge ... and the police
officer who took information on the accident ... what is going on
with them? ... and what will it take to take the curse off ... if
the gypsy can be persuaded to remove it.
The
Tommyknockers
An ancient area with a bad reputation for unpleasant
happenings dating back to the Spanish settlements provide the
setting for an unusual close encounters ... the ghosts of aliens.
Or ARE they ghosts? The woman who finds a ship draws the
surrounding community into an excavation of the artifact. Then
things start to change, people disappear into her shed and don't
come out. Everyone, even the men start to wear make-up to cover
up but ... cover-up what ...? And the air ...
