The Gunslinger (Dark Tower: v.1)
This is the saga of the Gunslinger in an
alternative reality. The reality presents Gunslingers in the
American West instead of shining knights of Medieval Europe. The
Feudal tradition lives in the desolation of this world. The fight
between Good and Evil include mystical beings and occurences
reminiscent of the world of Camelot and Merlin.
The first volume of Stephen Kings' Dark Tower series begins
with the Gunslinger following the Man In Black across the desert.
Perhaps the most striking thing about this story is the combined
apocolyptic, old west, and medieval feudal society themes
interlaced to create an unusual depiction of the conflict between
good and evil. The Gunslinger is chasing the Man in Black and
throughout the story, the seed is planted and re-planted that the
Gunslinger may win, but the cost may be his soul.
